As a gift for his girlfriend, Amazon boss Jeff Bezos recently purchased the Georgian-style Beverly Hills mansion from his friend, media mogul David Geffen. The 13,600 sqft Warner Estate sits on nine acres of land in prestigious Beverly Hills.
The opulent home contains a nine-hole golf course, many guest accommodations, a 300-foot drive, a swimming pool, and a tennis court. There are also beautifully designed gardens, fountains, ponds, and terraces on the property.
History of the Warner Estate
Warner Bros. chief executive Jack L. Warner built the mansion in 1937. He enjoyed throwing lavish parties for stars like Jimmy Stewart, Audrey Hepburn, and Howard Hughes. The film giant was an art lover and filled his home with expensive works of art from the likes of Salvador Dali. He even commissioned Dali to paint a portrait of his wife, Ann.
A Record Sale
After Warner Died in 1978, Ann Warner remained at the estate until her death in 1990. Geffen purchased the estate for $48 million, a record sum for Los Angeles at that time. The recent sale for $165 million hits a record for the second time in a row, being the most ever paid for a California home. Forbes ranks Bezos as the world’s richest man. He reportedly has a net worth of $131 billion.

Since cashing out 1.7 million Amazon shares, netting Bezos $3.5 billion, he has also splashed out on another property in Beverly Hills. He paid $90 million for the Enchanted Hill Estate, previously owned by the late Microsoft co-founder Paul Allen. The couple will occupy the Warner Estate, and use the Enchanted Hill Estate as an investment opportunity.
Jeff Bezos has been spending a lot of time in Hollywood with his girlfriend, former TV news anchor Lauren Sanchez. Rumours of their engagement continue to build. The couple has spent vacations on Geffen’s $200 million yacht Rising Sun.
Bezos and Sanchez attended the recent Tom Ford fashion show, held in Los Angeles. Celebrities such as Renée Zellweger, Anna Wintour, and Miley Cyrus were also in attendance.
