A visit to California wouldn’t be complete without a road trip through Los Angeles to San Francisco. The drive along the PCH is magnificent and showcases much of what California has to offer. The highway, also known as State Route 1 or Shoreline Highway, includes 450 miles of Pacific Coast Highway and is surely one of the most iconic road trips America has to offer.

Our California coast trip is the easiest and most convenient way to explore all the Golden State has to offer. Each guest will experience firsthand what it means to be a true local of Southern California, visiting some of the most famous landmarks of Los Angeles and San Francisco. This includes a drive through the relaxing Big Sur region followed by the contrasting atmosphere of the exciting places of Santa Barbara, Monterey, Silicon Valley, and even Stanford University. Your guide will make plenty of stops along the 17 Mile Drive in order for you to take pictures of Pebble Beach, the Bixby Bridge, and many more. Not only does this break up the trip, but it also rings true to Ralph Waldo Emerson’s quote, “life is a journey, not a destination.” While  experiencing the L.A. to San Francisco Tour, you will have a newfound understanding of California’s state of mind.

A California Coast Tour with Classic Experiences – An epic summer Pacific Coast Highway road trip is as American as apple pie. We understand that the planning of such a trip may prove tricky, especially with complex itineraries, careful budgeting, and the unavoidable exhaustion of an extremely long road trip. We have teamed up with TripAdvisor to make the trip planning process easier and more convenient to ensure that your experience in California is amazing from start to finish.

Day 1

During the first day of your trip, you will be picked up in the morning at your hotel, and we will head straight for the serene and majestic Highway 1 as we escort you from Los Angeles to Santa Barbara.. You will fall in love with the amazing view of the vineyards along the hillsides in Santa Barbara. The scenic drive through the Big Sur is something you will never forget. You will be privileged to visit one of the world’s largest elephant seal colonies located in San Simeon. Your day will end with an evening stroll completed with dinner in Carmel by the Sea.

Santa Barbara

The city of state Santa Barbara is also known as the American Riviera. The mission style buildings with red tile roofs and postcard-perfect beaches are what makes Santa Barbara iconic.

San Luis Obispo

San Luis Obispo is a much-underrated tourist destination. This city has earned the title of the “Happiest City in America.” This is no surprise considering the artwork and sandy shores of the area. The bustling farmer’s market and lush greenery make San Luis Obispo a nature lover’s paradise.

Big Sur

The Big Sur is often referred to as “mini-Yosemite” in considering its natural splendors. With the rugged central California Pacific coastline to the west and the dramatic Santa Lucia mountain range to the east, the Big Sur offers families and adventurers a rejuvenating escape from the hectic pace of everyday life.

Carmel-by-the-Sea

This small beachfront city is dotted with European-style cottages, art galleries, specialty boutiques, and serves as the perfect starting point to explore greater Monterey County. The city is littered with courtyards and secret passageways that will make you feel like you’ve stepped into a fairytale. In Carmel-by-the-Sea, there are no mailboxes, addresses, or parking meters. It does, however, offer boutique shopping along with a burgeoning art and wine scene.

Day 2

Stanford University

Stanford University is one of the top research universities in the world. The university, founded by Jane and Leland Stanford, is renowned for its entrepreneurial character. Moreover, the university has made significant contributions to diverse fields of study including social and engineering sciences. Stanford is situated in California’s Bay Area, one of the most intellectually saturated and culturally nuanced areas in the world.

Silicon Valley

Silicon Valley is the global center of technological innovation. The term Silicon Valley was first used in 1971 as silicon was pervasive in the manufacturing of the computer chip. This manufacturing was critical to the Santa Clara economy. The Valley is comprised of small cities that radiate out from Stanford University in Palo Alto. The engineering prowess of Silicon Valley has produced some of the most successful entrepreneurs in terms of technology such as Bill Hewlett and Dave Packard. An HP facility once stood where Campus 2 is situated. The valley is innovative, powerful, and super competitive.

San Francisco

San Francisco is compact, forward-thinking, and family friendly. Though the gold seekers are long gone, the “City by the Bay’ remains golden, from its iconic bridge to its sparkling personality. The Golden Gate Bridge is the most recognizable feature of the city’s skyline. Vintage cable cars have rolled along the roads since the late 19th century and continue to do so today. Haight Ashbury features winsome Victorian terraces or ‘painted ladies’  that sit shoulder-to-shoulder in a competition to turn heads. Pride rainbow flags fly high in the Castro District as it is synonymous with the city’s heart of the LGBT community. Venture downtown to America’s oldest Chinatown, where neon signs, written in Chinese, overhang every street corner. North Beach, otherwise known as Little Italy, is a charming experience not to be missed. Nearby lies Fisherman’s Wharf, one of the most popular and historic waterfront neighborhoods.

With our California Coast Tour, we’ll take you to see the sights, sample the world-class cuisine, and experience life like a native San Franciscan.
